Wheelchair Basketball Week coming Sept.26-Oct.2

Goal is to enhance awareness, increase participation and support wheelchair basketball programs across the country

 

(TORONTO, ONT.) – Wheelchair Basketball Canada, in partnership with its Provincial Sport Organizations and club programs from across the country, is hosting Wheelchair Basketball Week from September 26 to October 2, 2022.

The week-long initiative is designed to support, celebrate, and amplify the efforts of dedicated wheelchair basketball champions, clubs, and Provincial Sport Organizations across the country.

“Wheelchair Basketball Canada is excited to work with our provincial partners and club programs across the country on Wheelchair Basketball Week,” said Wendy Gittens, Wheelchair Basketball Canada Executive Director. “Our goal is to make this an annual event and work collaboratively with our members to celebrate and unite the wheelchair basketball community as we prepare to host the 2026 IWBF World Championships.”

The week of initiatives includes a Bridging the Gap event at the Richmond Olympic Oval in Richmond, B.C., on Monday, Sept. 26. The Manitoba Wheelchair Sports Association will host a Have a Go Day on Sept. 28 at the CFB Shilo, and ParaSport New Brunswick will hold a Have A Go Day in Oromocto in partnership with Aboriginal Sport and Recreation New Brunswick on Oct. 1.
