Summer Sport Coordinator 

Location: ParaSport and Recreation PEI Office – 40 Enman Cres. – Charlottetown, PEI
Position Type: Canada Summer Jobs (Temporary)
Start Date: June 15th, 2026  
Duration: 8 weeks
Hours: 35 hours/week
Wage: $18 -20/hour

ParaSport and Recreation PEI is a provincial non-profit organization dedicated to creating inclusive opportunities in sport, recreation, and physical activity for Islanders with physical.

Through adaptive programs, outreach, and community partnerships, we work to remove barriers and ensure individuals of all ages and abilities can participate, belong, and thrive through sport and recreation.

Role Overview

The Summer Sport Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the planning, coordination, and delivery of inclusive sport and recreation programs across Prince Edward Island. This position combines administrative support with hands-on program involvement, offering meaningful experience in community sport, accessibility, and event delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Program Administration & Delivery

  • Assist with planning, scheduling, and coordinating programs and events
  • Prepare schedules, attendance tracking, and program materials
  • Support onsite program delivery, setup, and participant experience
  • Track registrations, attendance, and participant information

Facility & Equipment Coordination

  • Book and confirm facilities for programs and events
  • Maintain and organize adaptive sport equipment inventory
  • Coordinate equipment transport for outreach and events

Volunteer & Coaching Support

  • Communicate with volunteers on schedules and expectations
  • Assist with onboarding and training
  • Maintain volunteer records and certifications

Communication & Participant Relations

  • Respond to participant and family inquiries
  • Support newsletters, program updates, and communications
  • Maintain organized contact lists and databases

Event & Competition Support

  • Assist with planning and delivering events, tournaments, and try-it sessions
  • Support logistics including registration, setup, and accessibility needs

Administrative Support

  • Maintain files, reports, and program documentation
  • Assist with basic financial tracking (receipts, invoices)
  • Support website and social media content (non-lead role)

Safety, Inclusion & Accessibility

  • Follow safety protocols and emergency procedures
  • Support inclusive practices for participants of all abilities
  • Report risks or hazards and support safe program delivery

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Interest in sport, recreation, or community programming

Assets:

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities
  • Background in sport, recreation, or event planning
  • First Aid or other relevant certifications

Eligibility (Canada Summer Jobs)

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada
