Power of ParaSport – Breaking Barriers Gala 2026
Thank You, PEI, for Helping Us Break Barriers!
On October 17, 2026, our community came together at Memorial Hall at the Confederation Centre of the Arts for the inaugural Power of ParaSport – Breaking Barriers Gala. What an incredible evening!
ParaSport & Recreation PEI is proud and grateful to have welcomed a sold-out room of supporters, sponsors, community partners, donors and advocates who share a commitment to making sport and recreation more inclusive and accessible for Islanders with physical disabilities.
From the inspiring stories shared by our keynote speakers to the generosity shown through sponsorships, donations and our silent auction, the evening was a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish when a community comes together around a common purpose.
Thank you to everyone who helped make our first Breaking Barriers Gala such a success. Your support will help us continue creating opportunities for Islanders with physical disabilities to participate, build confidence, develop skills and experience the many benefits of sport and recreation.
An Evening of Inspiration and Community
The gala featured powerful presentations from three outstanding guests who each brought a unique perspective on resilience, inclusion and the impact of sport.
Lucas Arsenault, a proud Islander from Wellington, shared his story of recovery, perseverance and the role sport and recreation have played in his journey.
Amy Burk, Island-born Paralympian and member of Canada’s Women’s Goalball Team, spoke about the importance of inclusion, teamwork and creating opportunities for everyone to participate and succeed.
Dr. Heather Morrison, Chief Public Health Officer of Prince Edward Island and a board member of the Paralympic Foundation of Canada, joined us in celebrating the importance of advancing opportunities in sport and supporting future generations of athletes.
We are grateful to Lucas, Amy and Dr. Morrison for sharing their time, experiences and perspectives with our guests.
We also extend our sincere thanks to our event MC, Darcy, our board members, volunteers and everyone who worked behind the scenes to bring this inaugural event to life.

Events like this would not be possible without the generosity of organizations that believe in our mission. Your support helps us build a more inclusive PEI, where Islanders with physical disabilities have opportunities to participate, belong and thrive.

The Impact Continues Beyond One Evening
The Breaking Barriers Gala was more than a fundraising event. It was a celebration of what becomes possible when barriers are challenged and opportunities are created.
Funds raised through the gala will support ParaSport & Recreation PEI’s programs, adaptive equipment, and services that help Islanders with physical disabilities access inclusive sport and recreation opportunities throughout the province.
From wheelchair basketball and para swimming to boccia, sledge hockey, adaptive cycling and more, our work is about making participation possible and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to experience the benefits of being active.
The success of our inaugural gala gives us something special to build on, and we look forward to continuing this work alongside our community.
Thank you for being part of the Power of ParaSport.
Inclusion. Opportunity. Community.
