ParaSport and Recreation PEI has partnered with Synergy Fitness and Nutrition to offer a fitness program for adults with a physical or visual disability. The program changes every 12 weeks and includes cardio and strength training. If you have never been to the gym before or maybe you haven’t been in a while then this is the program for you! All fitness levels are welcome. The program is offered two times a week – On Saturday mornings and Tuesday evenings. Aqua-Abilities

Aqua-Abilities is a program designed for children between the ages of 5-17 living with a physical or intellectual disability. During this 8-week program, children will be provided with the opportunity to learn how to swim at their own pace with the guidance of a certified swim instructor.
This program is offered at the Bell Aliant Centre and Credit Union Place throughout the fall and winter months.
Charlottetown – Bell Aliant Centre Program
Fall Programs starts September 13th, 2025 and runs for 8 weeks until November 1st, 2025.
Schedule: Saturdays, 1:00 – 1:30 PM (Group 1) and 1:30-2:00 PM (Group 2)
Location: Bell Aliant Centre
Registration fee: $25.00
Advanced Aqua-Abilities
Advanced Aqua-Abilities is the next level of swimming lessons for children with a disability offered by ParaSport and Recreation PEI. This program focuses on how to swim. Skills that are taught are forward and backwards propulsion, kicking with and without a board, entry into deep water, treading water in shallow and deep water, etc. Graduates from this program will be able to move on to a pre-competitive swim program or the Lifesaving Society’s Swimmer Level 4. This program is taught over 8 weeks in a small group setting. Prerequisites: Completion of Aqua-Abilities or Swimmer Level 1.

Schedule: Sundays from 2:00-2:30 PM
Location: Bell Aliant Centre
Registration Fee: $40.00
A swimming program for young adults and adults with a physical disability. Workouts are tailored to each participant’s skill level — from those just learning to swim or even be in a pool to those training for fitness or competition. Some participants will be ready for lane swimming with a coach in the deep pool, while others will be guided by a coach to improve their skills in the leisure pool.
