ParaSport and Recreation Hosts ParaSport Festival

ParaSport and Recreation PEI is hosting a ParaSport Festival on Thursday, October 12th at the Bell Aliant Centre! This year will feature a FREE session that is open for anyone in the community to attend. The community session will run from 5:00-7:00pm.

There will be a variety of para sport stations set up so you can come and go as you please and try out any sport you wish to! Sports that will be demonstrated include; wheelchair basketball, goalball, wheelchair tennis, cycling, karate, biathlon, target shooting, and much more!

Then come try out sledge hockey with Canada’s National Sledge Hockey team members Liam Hickey and PEI’s own Billy Bridges from 6:30-7:30 at MacLauchlan Arena!

31st Annual ParaSport and Recreation PEI Christmas Shopping Spree Fundraiser is Underway

The Fundraising staff is back to work with the 31st Annual ParaSport and Recreation PEI Christmas Shopping Spree. This major fundraiser raises much needed dollars to support sport and recreation programs for people with a physical disability on PEI.

First prize is a $3,000 shopping spree anywhere on PEI and second prize is a Christmas basket valued at $500, including a gift card to purchase everything needed for Christmas dinner.

Tickets can be purchased for $20.00 each or 3 for $50.00. Tickets are pre-sold and can be mailed or delivered to your home or workplace. To purchase a ticket contact the ParaSport and Recreation PEI Fundraising Office at 902-368-4669. The winning ticket will be drawn on Friday December 13th.

We would like to remind everyone that this is not a telemarketing company, and that all the proceeds of this fundraiser goes to ParaSport and Recreation PEI and its programs.

 

 

ParaSport and Recreation PEI Celebrates Athletes and Volunteers at Annual Awards Ceremony & AGM

ParaSport and Recreation PEI held their Annual Awards Ceremony and Annual General Meeting at the Holiday Inn Express on June 15, 2017.  This annual event brings together athletes, coaches, volunteers, board members and staff to celebrate the success over the past year.

Several people were honored during the Awards Ceremony.  The following people with the recipients of ParaSport and Recreation PEI’s annual awards:

ParaSport and Recreation PEI would like to thank all members that attended the Awards Ceremony & AGM. We would also like to recognize our out going Board Members, Sarah Fullerton and Richard Pettipas.  Richard, has stepped down as ParaSport and Recreation PEI President after 10 years.  He is the longest serving President of the organization!  Thank-you to Richard and Sarah your years of service.  You will be missed!

Matheson and Harper Win Top Bowlers at 2017 Provincial Bowling Championships

ParaSport and Recreation PEI held its Annual Provincial Bowling Championships for individuals with a disability at the Murphy’s Community Center this past Sunday. Bowlers participated in 4 different categories:  Youth, Female Standing and Male Seated and Standing.  The Overall Top Bowlers in the event were for the women,  Tanya Matheson with a total pin fall of 233 and for the men, Jonathan Harper with a total pin fall of 285.  The Top Youth Bowler was Colby Matheson with a total pin fall of 190.

ParaSport and Recreation PEI Annual General Meeting & Awards Ceremony- Save the Date

ParaSport and Recreation PEI is set to host its Annual General Meeting and Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, June 15, 2017 at the Holiday Inn Express in Charlottetown.

The evening’s Agenda is the following:

5:30 PM:  Meet and Greet Reception (Light snacks and refreshments will be provided)

6:00 PM:  Awards Ceremony

6:30 PM:  15 Min Break

6:45 PM:  Annual General Meeting

8:00 PM:  Adjournment
