ParaSport and Recreation P.E.I. have received a grant of $7,500 from GoodLife Kids Foundation to help develop wheelchair basketball on P.E.I.
The funding was used to purchase two new youth basketball wheelchairs as well as to support the Wheelchair Basketball Junior Program.
ParaSport and Recreation P.E.I. will continue to offer the Wheelchair Basketball Junior Program this fall. It is a free program that is open to children between the ages of 6-14.
GoodLife Kids Foundation raises funds to support national, provincial and local programs that provide ongoing physical activity opportunities for kids with special needs and to help remove some of the barriers currently holding children back from living a healthy life.
For more information or to get involved in wheelchair basketball, contact the ParaSport and Recreation P.E.I. office by email at parasportpei@.ca or by calling 902-368-4540.
